Emerson has introduced the TopWorx™ DX PST equipped with HART 7. The device provides valuable valve data and diagnostic information, enabling the digital transformation of process applications. The new DX PST can be seamlessly integrated with existing valves and control systems, allowing operators to access critical valve data, trends, and diagnostics that can be used to predict and schedule maintenance.

The partial stroke testing of the DX PST ensures the reliable operation of the system without shutting down the process. The safety function confirms that the valve will fully close and halt the process when an emergency is detected, and the test can be activated simply by pressing the local PST button, without the need for additional equipment. To prevent serious failures under disturbed conditions, the device will override the test to perform an emergency shutdown (ESD).

The adaptive DX PST is certified for operation in harsh and hazardous applications. It is designed to ensure the integrity of the valves, enhancing overall safety and facility uptime in oil and gas, refinery, chemical, industrial energy, and mining applications.

"The digital transformation of the process industry continues to make operations safer and more efficient," said Prayag Vatsraj, Global Product Manager of Emerson Switchbox. "The DX PST with HART 7 supports digital transformation by providing reliable data that offers valuable insights into the condition of valve components, ensuring the integrity of the system without shutting down the process."

The specification of the HART protocol is owned by the FieldComm Group. It builds another layer of information, ensuring that data, trends, and diagnostics are monitored and linking them to the Industrial Internet of Things. This information can be used to effectively predict and schedule maintenance.

The DX PST has a Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3). When used in conjunction with the ASCOTM series Advanced Redundancy Control System (ARCS), it provides integrated 2oo2 or 2oo3 solenoid valve redundancy to further enhance safety, along with open terminals that allow for additional pressure transmitters and two pressure switches. The discrete valve controller offers simple local and remote calibration.
